A quartet of next-gen Alcohol.Think Again Western Warriors have today been named in the developmental Cricket Australia XI squad for the Matador BBQs One Day Cup competition.
Batsman Will Bosisto headlines the WA contingent, having been named the side’s captain.
Batsman Jake Carder, wicketkeeper-batsman Josh Inglis and pace tyro Jhye Richardson round out the WA selections, with all players current holder of Warriors contracts.
Richardson only narrowly missed selection for the WA squad, with a lack of match practice the only determining factor as he worked his way back from a groin injury.
Warriors coach Justin Langer said: “It’s a great achievement for Will Bosisto to lead the CA XI side for the second year in a row and that’s a credit to his leadership skills.
“He’s coming off his first First Class hundred last year and he’ll be looking to capitalise on this opportunity.
“We’ve been really pleased with Jake Carder’s progress and he’s had a great pre-season, only just missing selection in the Warriors squad for Matador, so it’ll be good to see him get experience in the CA XI.
“Josh Inglis impressed in his stint with the National Performance Squad recently. He has fantastic wicketkeeping skills and works really hard and it’s pleasing to see our talented young players get these opportunities in the One Day competition.
“Jhye Richardson is so highly rated in WA cricket – he obviously has a Warriors and a Scorchers contract – and unfortunately missed out on selection for the WA squad purely through a lack of match practice, so it’ll be great to see him out there.”
